We also have a few bits of really great news...

1. We now have over 700 members from 33 countries (Peru recently added)!

2. We've been accepted to write a chapter for a university textbook - working title of "Community Media & Communicative Democracy", edited by Kevin Howley, Associate Professor of Media Studies, Department of Communication & Theater, DePauw University (Greencastle, Indiana, USA). Howley's previous text is "Community Media: People, Places, and Communication Technologies" - see http://academic.depauw.edu/~khowley/index.htm for more info. Updates on the status of the project will be available in summer/fall of 2007.

3. We were accepted for inclusion in the Literature and/as Social Activism joint panel of the ACQL (Association of Canadian and Quebec Literature) and CCLA (Canadian Comparative Literature Association) conferences, part of the Humanities Congress held in Saskatoon from May 26 - June 2, 2007. ESPA Director-at-Large Ondine Park presented on our behalf and we are happy to have had the opportunity.

4. We've also been accepted as the first (and only!) Canadian member of the New Progressive Coalition (NPC), a U.S.-based entity that "is changing the culture of progressive investment and turning progressive potential into political reality". The NPC is the first network for progressive political entrepreneurs, (c)(3), (c)(4), (c)(6) organizations, 527s, PACs, for-profit entities, and investors who aim to counter the disastrous effects of the conservative, right-wing movement. For more info about the NPC see http://www.newprogressivecoalition.com/about.

5. ESPA is now a local distributor of 100% post-consumer recycled paper, and are re-distributing it at-cost to other local groups who want to switch to recycled but can't afford retail prices. CALL US FOR MORE INFO or to have an order form emailed to you...
