The North of Nowhere (NoN) Expo:
A Multidisciplinary Festival of
Independent Media & Underground Art
Sept. 16-30, 2007
The NoN Expo is currently seeking volunteers to assist in pre-expo planning and on-site presentation. Previous experience is an asset, but not required (see orientations info below):
Pre-Expo:
- office administration: data entry, copying, web research, etc. (afternoons)
- promotional tabling & volunteer recruitment at other events (afternoon and evening shifts available in September)
- production crew: prepping & installing artwork and environmental signage (afternoon and evening shifts available, weekdays/weekends)
- postering & signage placement/distribution (afternoons/evenings)
- media & publicity: posting releases, liasing between expo producers & media (days & evenings) - email access and a phone required!
- front-of-house: taking tickets, tracking admissions & providing guests with expo information and programs (mostly evenings from 6-11pm)
- special event set-up: environmental design & decorating (mostly afternoons from 3-7pm)
- bartenders, servers & bussers/porters for live music cabarets (evenings)
- hosts/hostesses for theme events - theatre background an asset!
This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical work-experience
in a fun, creative and exciting social environment. All
NoN Expo volunteers will receive full-access passes to all events, hospitality
& other perks. Low-income volunteers may be subsidized with free
ETS tickets to and from their shifts.
Orientation Meetings
All orientation meetings will be held in Room #9,
6th Floor, at the Stanley A. Milner Library in downtown Edmonton
(7 Sir Winston Churchill Square) on the following dates:
Wed., Aug. 29: @ 4:30pm
& 6:30pm- Specifically pre-event admin & production volunteers
Wed., Sept 5: @ 4:30pm
& 6:30pm - Specifically publicity admin & front-of-house/event volunteers
Wed., Sept 12: @ 4:30pm
& 6:30pm - Specifically publicity admin & front-of-house/event volunteers

ONE OF THE ABOVE SCHEDULED ORIENTATIONS. We do not recommend you
just show up without letting us know in advance (in the case of schedule
changes, etc.)
