Seeking P/T Website Administrator
Hours per month: 5-10 (hours flexible)
Details: Anyone who's been to our website
in the last few months knows that we don't update it as often as we should.
We're looking for a volunteer who can proactively make minor bi-monthly
updates, such as deleting old postings and adding new ones (eg: board &
general meetings), and archiving past events (moving postings from the 'what's
new' page to the 'past events' page). We need someone who can periodically
scan the whole site and request details from the ESPA Board of needed updates.
Ability to communicate via email.
Qualifications: Practical knowledge/experience
using HTML, CSS, graphic manipulation. Knowledge of both PC and Mac Operating
systems an asset. Must be willing to sign a confidentiality agreement in
regards to usage of administrator passwords and other sensitive information.
Seeking P/T Catalogue Administrators
Hours per month: 10-20 (1-2 days/week for
min. 4 hours/shift)
Details: After receiving training from the
p/t archivist, catalogue administrators will be responsible for adding new
materials to the ESPA's online catalogue. Job includes scanning covers and
re-formatting images into 2 sizes of thumbnails using Photoshop; visual
assessment of items donated, and entering the appropriate item headings
into pre-set fields (eg: 'zine' vs. 'comic'), including item dimensions,
contact info, short item descriptions, etc.
Qualifications: Mid-level computer experience
including basic internet and troubleshooting. Ability to communicate via
email. This job involves working alone and reading a fair bit, a great opportunity
for zine-lovers who have a healthy interest in zines, comics and associated
print materials. Ideal candidates should be able to interpret standard zine
formats upon sight (eg: zine vs. mini-comic, digest vs. broadsheet), as
well as broadly interpret their contents (eg: GMO vs. globalization vs.
feminist). Must be attentive to detail and have decent grammatical skills.
Must be willing to sign a confidentiality agreement in regards to usage
of administrator passwords and other sensitive information.
Production Committee Members
Hours per month: 10 (varies, pending upcoming
events/projects)
Details: Production Committee Members will
work directly with the Artistic Director in producing our public events
(art installations, film screenings & cabarets). Pre-event responsibilities
might include gathering information for media releases, liasing with advertisers
& sponsors, prepping artwork, tabling at (non-ESPA) events, and postering/distributing
handbills and other materials. Event responsibilities might include helping
set-up, installing artwork, taking admissions, general attendants, and tear-down.
Qualifications: Available and reliable to
work some evening & weekend events. Ability to communicate via email.
Vehicle an asset (gas/mileage may be subsidized by ESPA).
General Office Volunteers
Hours per month: 10-20 (1-2 days/week for
min. 4 hours/shift)
Details: General Office Volunteers are needed
to literally hang out in the ESPA office (Stanley Milner Library), so that
we can start advertising consistent open office hours and increase our accessibility.
Minor duties spent passing the time might include membership mail prep,
logging of hard-copy catalogue materials that need re-ordering or re-printing,
and other minor office duties.
Qualifications: Available and reliable to
work at least 1 afternoon/week (approx. noon-6pm), preferably the same day
every week; friendly enough to be able to meet & greet people who drop
by, give them more info about ESPA's general operating activities, including
liasing with Our Voice vendors on occasion. Good volunteer job for a student
(time can be used to study, etc.). Must be willing to sign a confidentiality
agreement in regards to usage of office key, etc.
